A Bright & Fresh Spring Décor Update

This week marks the start of spring 2018!

For most of us in the UK it has been a cold and dreary start, however brighter days are on the horizon. The spring season is the perfect occasion for two of my favourite things: spring cleaning (yes, really!) and refreshing home décor. There’s something about the longer daylight hours and the slightly milder temperatures that just makes me want to throw open the windows to let in some sunshine and fresh air. Whether your climate allows you to do this without shivering or not – you can still update your home interiors to reflect the warmer days ahead. Read on to find out what’s on trend this season and some of my top picks for your bedroom!

What’s on trend?

Now spring has sprung, it’s all about a contemporary colour palette. Something I’ve learnt over many years remodelling a house is that grey is the perfect base colour for any room that will compliment any accent colour. This particular look is all about pairing nice crisp grey tones with bold accents of yellow, green and blue. Try to tie in some natural elements into your home this spring with real or artificial plants and flowers, it will add texture and life.

My top picks:

FLUTTER YELLOW DUVET SET in Kingsize by The Yorkshire Linen Co, £19.99

This duvet set is fantastic value and comes in such an eye-catching print that I just love. You can find similar spring styles elsewhere but for much more money! Grey and yellow work perfectly together in the design and it’s completely machine washable. It also comes in a beautiful deep pink and fresh blue so have a browse on their website, there’s plenty to choose from and buy from Yorkshire Linen. Find it here.

GIANT SOFT TOUCH THROW in Grey by The Range, £19.99

Perfectly soft for cosy nights at home and big enough to cover your entire bed, this is the ideal throw for when the evenings are still cool. This has had great reviews online, so it’s well worth adding to your bedding set. Find it here.

OKEN FOLDING SIDE TABLE in Grey or Yellow by Habitat, £40

This little table is so practical and stylish, it will fit in every room for any use. By folding up and down easily it can create an instant bedside table for a guest room, or can be a permanent addition to your living room as a side table. I love the colours that are available, but these two in particular work so well in this aesthetic. Find them here.

ASSORTMENT OF FILLED CUSHIONS by Dunelm, £7-22

You can always count on Dunelm to have a fabulous range of cushions for every colour scheme. The wonderfully soft chenille fabric (middle cushion) is snuggly enough to cuddle up to, whilst the other intricately designed cushions are beautiful to decorate the bed with and add to the botanical theme. Find them here.

LEMON CURD FRAGRANCED CANDLE by Next, £9

This smells deeelicious and comes in such fun packaging. It would be so lovely in your master bedroom to freshen the air with some zingy aromas. Find it here.

FLORAL ARRANGEMENT WITH VASE by Asda, £10

Adding a pop of colour to a room can be a brave choice, but can really pay off in the warmer seasons to enliven your living space. An inexpensive home accessory like this one will look fantastic on your bedside table, and can be replaced with a more neutral accessory come the winter time. I adore the textures in this arrangement, and the colours tie in so well the spring/summer palette. Find it here.

SUCCULENT ARRANGEMENT IN WATERING CAN by Asda, £4

Wow, if you’re looking for to bring an element of nature into your home on a budget then this is a perfect pick for you! Succulents are so in right now and the artificial ones look so realistic that you don’t have to worry about caring for a real one. The rustic watering can container looks so chic too! Find it here.

I hope you loved these picks to brighten your home this spring time!
