Weaning – such good times! I know that I am well past that stage, for now anyway, but it can be a little stressful to get organised. I find it fun seeing what my kids like to eat and their little expressions when they try new foods for the first time. This recipe is the ideal food for weaning your baby!
Avocados makes a perfect ingredient for baby food – it is very healthy and contains all the vitamins your baby needs. I like that it doesn’t require ingredients that you wouldn’t already be using. So when you’re making your roast chicken with potatoes, keep some to one side, add in some avocado and a little milk, and away you go. The great thing is that this will freeze well. So if you don’t already have some ice-cube trays to freeze squares of this in, then you need some. It makes it much easier to wean your little ones when you can give them food that you know all the ingredients are.
This is super easy to make too. So pin this for later to make when you’ve got a little one to wean?
Avocado, Chicken and Potato Baby Purée
Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:
- 1 hass avocado, halved, pitted and peeled
- 100g skinless chicken breast
- 2 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 tsp whole milk (or your baby’s milk)
What to do:
- Steam the potatoes and chicken for 25-30 minutes, until tender.
- Put everything into a blender or mini food processor and blend to a smooth purée.
- Serve.
If your baby likes or needs it a bit smoother, then adding a little extra milk will help to give it a consistency that your baby will like.
Enjoy! How do you find weaning with little ones? I always quite enjoyed it but it is important to get organised with it.
