We are so close to the start of the summer holidays, I can hardly wait! And as much as I am looking forward to the break from routine and a break from school and the usual things, there is still an element of FOSH when the summer holidays come around. The Daily Telegraph has reported that one in four parents experiences FOSH, which is fear of the summer holidays. Does this resonate with you? Do you think you fear them a little, as it can end up costing a lot over summer and takes some planning to keep the kids entertained?
If this sounds like you, and you both dread and enjoy the summer break in equal measure, then you need to hear all about Metcalfe’s® popcorn and their www.makesummerpop.co.uk site. They want to take a stand to ending summer boredom, as they have launched their Days With a Difference Activity Generator. If you visit the website above, then you will be able to see the summer-inspired activities that have a bit of a twist, so you can enjoy fun over summer in some unique, simple, and affordable ways (with many of them being free).
The generator lets you choose if you want to plan an activity with or without children (so works for everyone this summer), as well as then choosing if you want something that is free or for a fee, and if you want something based indoors, outdoors, chilled or thrilled. The ideas that I have found (and there are over 40 of them), are fun and you can tweak it to fit you, your family, and even the weather! As with Metcalfe’s popcorn and snacks, they really want to help to make your summer pop.
One of the outdoor based activities that it suggests with the kids is having an outdoor cowboy cookout, so we have been giving that a go over the weekend.

The kids love toasting marshmallows, the sun was shining, and we got the fire pit going. And when there’s country music, nachos, and popcorn, what more do you need? It is a simple way of making being outside fun, and can be a bit different than just staying in and watching a movie of an evening this summer. You don’t need much to have a cowboy cookout, so you could easily create your own this summer; cowboy hats not necessarily required.

If you fancy giving looking up the Activity Generator, you can also be in with the chance of winning one of three Adventure Boxes, so you can do a few things more adventurous over the summer.
Plus, if you don’t win one of the three adventure boxes, Metcalfe’s® are also giving away 100 snack box prizes, filled with the tasty Metcalfe’s® snack range, which can always help over the holidays when the kids are little snack monsters! It is free to enter, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give it a go.
So why not dive head first into something that is aboredom-banishing, adventure-inspiring, explorer-enthralling activity day with a difference? Let’s make it a summer to remember with as little FOSH possible! 😉
