Birthdays in Lockdown with Orchard Toys

We have had two birthdays in our house in lockdown. And although there are things that you can order online to be delivered right to your door, just popping to the shop to get a birthday card, becomes a much bigger ordeal when you’ve got to stand in line and have it take much longer. The good news is that there are alternatives, and I’ve never been so grateful for all of the free content that people are outing out there for us to use and download.

We have been fans of Orchard Toys for a while now, as they have a great range of games and jigsaw puzzles, that are great for little ones, with lots of learning and educational elements thrown in. So they are a go-to choice for birthday gifts, for my own children, as well as nieces, nephews, and school friends. But at the moment Orchard Toys have launched a new online resource so that you can make your own birthday card. It is a great feature and works well if you can’t just head to the shops as you’d normally do.

Superhero Printable Birthday Card

Our favourite is the superhero card, which you download, print, and the cut out and complete. I like that there is a homeschooling element to this, as the card / activity sheet can be coloured in for a friend, a sibling, parent, or grandparent. Anything to pass the time in lockdown, am I right?

If you’re looking for something to do with the children during this period, or you have a birthday celebration coming up, then I would recommend these; they’re a lot of fun and can mean something more special than a standard store-bought card. They are a good option for your own children, but could be something to download for your child’s friend’s birthday. They are perfect for helping to celebrate a special birthday while in lockdown!

Orchard Toys also have a fab range of puzzles and gifts that make a great present to go along with the cards too. They are educational, well made, and a firm favourite in this house. The good news is that Orchard Toys are still delivering to your door, so you’ve got plenty of options when it comes to getting some gifts for the little ones in your life.

Some of the Orchard Toys games and puzzles that we have tried out and would recommend are:

  • Farmyard Heads and Tails (from 18 months+) – £8.30
  • Smelly Wellies Game (ages 2-6) – £8.30 –
  • Big Dinosaurs Puzzle (from age 4) – £11
  • Rainbow Unicorns (from age 3) – £8.50
  • Match and Spell Game (from age 4+) – £8.50
  • Giraffes in Scarves (from age 4+) – £8.30

The quality of the puzzles is always great, and the price that they are, for what you get, it really reasonable. I think you get good value for money, with a quality product – they’re not just flimsy puzzle pieces of game pieces. I really like how bright they all are, with fun characters. They also keep up to date with trends like unicorns and llamas, so that they will keep appealing to little ones. All in all, I think that they are fab.

Have you been celebrating in lockdown or will you be? It would be great to hear what you think to the toys and the printable superhero birthday cards.
