It is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week – I wanted to share the signs and symptoms in infants with you all, as it is something close to my heart (no pun intended).
In babies, the signs that they could have a CHD are:
– excessive sweating, particularly during feeding
– unusually tired
– rapid breathing
– limited weight gain and growth
– rapid heartbeat
– repeat infections of airways
The child many not have all of these but if you suspect something, take them to see their GP.
It is not something that not many people have heard of and think that it is great that there is an awareness week for it. Spread the word!
