Even More Reasons to Visit New York City

A few years ago I visited New York City and let me tell you, it was one of the best holidays of my life. If you haven’t been, you’re certainly missing out. But, the good news is you can still book your holiday to the city that never sleeps. In fact, you could make it the destination of your next vacation. Here are just some of the things that you could experience if you did…

a Helicopter Ride Over The City

If you want to see New York in all its glory, then you should book a Helicopter ride before you go. There are companies that offer helicopter tours over the city’s most famous landmarks. It’s an incredible experience, flying over the Brooklyn Bridge and then seeing the statue of liberty from the air. The ride will cost you around two hundred dollars and I will admit that is quite expensive. But, the journey lasts around thirty minutes and many have said it is the highlight of their trip.

Broadway!

Yes, I have appeared on Broadway…in the front row of an evening performance of Hairspray! Again, this was just a once in a lifetime experience. I know people say that the shows are overrated by I respectfully disagree. It is a good idea to book ahead for your tickets to guarantee them but if you leave it until the last minute, like we did, you could grab an absoloubte bargain and buy the tickets on the day in Times Square.

The Accommodation

If you do go to New York here is a tip that helped me a lot. We were told what the best accommodation was, and you might be surprised to hear it’s not a hotel. If you want the best value accommodation, you should rent an apartment at HouseTrip.com. That way you’ll be able to feel like proper New Yorker, cooking your own food and shouting at tourists! Our apartment was totally luxurious.

5th Avenue

Of course, I couldn’t go to New York and not shop. I imagine you won’t be able to either and let me tell you the shops are amazing. I don’t care how rich you are; you’re probably not going to be able to afford most of them. But you can window shop, and that’s still fun isn’t it? I stopped off in Tiffany’s, but I’m not going to tell you what I bought there or how much I spent! Let’s just say there wasn’t much left of my holiday budget once I’d finished shopping.

The Sights

Finally, if you have time check out the famous sights on foot. Again a lot of people say the Empire State Building is over rated. But I have to disagree. Yes, you’re herded through like cattle, and you only get to spend about half an hour at the top. But you still get to see New York City at night, shining brightly below. Not to mention stand in the exact place where Tom Hanks finally met Meg Ryan!

Have you visited? I’m dying to go back!
