With winter in full swing, the evenings are getting colder and darker. I don’t know about you but it means I am much more likely to stay in. Plus, it can be tricky getting a babysitter. Ah, mum life. So it means many a night in for me and the hubs.
There are plenty of things to do, though, to mix things up a bit. Here are a few ideas for you:
Make a Dessert
For me, the hubs gets in pretty late as he commutes from London and has a busy job. So by the time he is back, the dinner has been cooked, and I have eaten mine with the kids. So making a nice meal together isn’t really an option. But getting in the kitchen and making a dessert together can be fun. It could be baking some cupcakes, making a chocolate fondue for dipping fruit, or make some pancakes, waffles or ice-cream. It could even be a fruit salad if you’re feeling healthy. Just doing something different together is what it is all about.
Work Out at Home
If heading out to the gym or for a run doesn’t sound appealing in the dark and cold, then work out at home. There are plenty of things that you can do at home, that don’t need equipment. I look up routines on YouTube, like Jillian Michaels or Shawn T. If you don’t feel like doing anything too energetic, then you could always try out yoga or pilates. Choose a beginner level and you’ll still get the relaxing and rejuvenating benefits.
Play Games
I love to play games (and have had to teach the husband to love them haha). It can be cards when there is just the two of us. Board games are a little trickier when there are only two of you. You could try a bingo game, as well as watching your favourite TV show. That is one of the things that is handy about the winter evenings – the TV is much better than at other times at the year!
I have been sent over this I’m a Celebrity Bingo game and it looks so funny. I love watching this how each year. Ant and Dec are my faves and make it what it is, I think. Having looked at the score card I can see that I can be ticking off a few already (loling at ‘someone eats a penis’). So why not try this, or maybe a Strictly Come Dancing one? Make it more exciting by having a prize on offer for the other people playing (and vice versa).
If you like this kind of thing, then you could play more online bingo games at Paddy Power.
What do you like to do with your evenings?
