Exante | Review

Have you heard of the 5:2 diet? Well, I have been putting it to the test with Exante.

For those of you that don’t know, it is diet where you eat regular, healthy meals for five days of the week and then have two ‘fasting’ days. On the fast days, you aren’t fully fasting but basically on a low-calorie intake that day, with meal replacement that are balanced and controlled. I have grown up with the idea of fasting and we would do it regularly as a family. I do know that it is a good thing, especially for weight control, so I was intrigued to see how I would do, with Exante.

The Pros:

~ The food comes in quick to consume packets. Just add water or a few minutes in the microwave, which is nice and easy for busy parents.

~ There is a large variety of flavours and ‘meals’ to choose from such as shakes, or hot meals like moussaka or soup.

~ I think the price is really reasonable. Each shake is just over £1 and there are lots of offers on the website if you buy certain things or order a 4 week pack, for example.

~ It is easy to fit into your life as it is quick, doesn’t need any fancy ingredients and it is all easy to prepare.

~ Proven weight loss and relatively quickly

~ You don’t have to calorie count as it is all done for you – this is most useful for me.

The Cons:

~ You would get use to it I’m sure but I did feel rather hungry. I just needed to remember to drink more water to help me feel more full. But yes, I would do this on days that I knew I would be busy so I was distracted and wouldn’t be eating much anyway.

~ Some of the flavours aren’t that great. I tried the vanilla breakfast shake and the toffee caramel one. The vanilla one tasted totally fine but I thought the toffee one was awful. Make sure you get a variety to see what you do and don’t like.

~ You might miss eating ‘proper’ food.

I tried the diet with 3 fasting days in total and I lots 5lbs which I think is pretty amazing. The diet obviously works but I’m sure it does balance out and each week wouldn’t be that much. I was really pleased though, it made the hunger worth it 😉

I think that it will be a good diet for those wanting to kick start their weight loss, as if you’re not use to eating under 600 calories, twice a week, the weight really will come off, particularly if followed with exercise and drinking plenty of water. Losing 5lbs in a week, as I did, is so motivating so I think it would really help those that need to see loss reasonably quickly.

I would also recommend the diet though for those wanting to maintain their weight. It is going to be pretty hard to put on pounds and pounds if you are eating a low calorie controlled diet twice a week and it is something I will be looking into doing from now on. I love the theory behind it.

Would you ever consider trying it?
