Trying to choose a holiday destination that the whole family can enjoy can be a real challenge. You will, of course, want the kids to have an unforgettable trip and create many happy memories, but you will also want to visit somewhere that you enjoy as well. It is important that you find a suitable destination so that you can all get something from the holiday and return home feeling recharged. North America is somewhere that has a lot of excellent destinations for families, plus it is also easy because it is English speaking which can be helpful when you have little ones in tow. Here are a few of the best places in North America for a memorable family vacation.
Los Angeles, California
The City of Angels is one of the most glamorous destinations in the world and somewhere with a lot to offer for little ones and adults. Everyone will enjoy seeing the iconic Hollywood sign and seeing where the rich and the famous live, while there are also fun theme parks, great shopping opportunities, diverse culture and much more to explore here. Additionally, the gorgeous weather is a big appeal and it is easy to chill out on the beach if you want some downtime.
Toronto, Canada
There are many terrific places in Canada to visit, and Toronto is one of the best cities not only in Canada but all of North America. One of the main reasons is that it is incredibly diverse in terms of culture so there is something for everyone here whether it is going up the iconic CN Tower, watching the popular Toronto Raptors NBA team, visiting the gigantic Royal Ontario Museum or going to Toronto Zoo.
Orlando, Florida
Orlando is best known, of course, for being home to the magical Disney World theme park (amongst a few others) which the kids are sure to adore (as will you). While this is the main attraction and somewhere that you will spend most of your time, Orlando has a lot more to it than this, including the Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve, many great restaurants, local sports and Lake Eola Park.
New York City, New York
There is a buzz around New York which is quite unlike anywhere else in the world. It is not generally considered to be a great place for kids as such a busy and hectic metropolis, but there is a tremendous amount to see and do here that the kids will love and also the opportunity to escape to the quieter surrounding areas too.
Niagara Falls, Canada
Niagara Falls, located in Ontario Canada, is a city at the famous waterfalls which it gets its name from that straddles the US/Canada border. The Niagara Falls waterfalls are a truly breathtaking sight to behold that is sure to amaze the kids. There are many excellent spots to observe the spectacular waterfalls, as well as many areas to explore around the area. Be sure to book into a Niagara Falls hotel nearby so that you can easily enjoy both the city and surrounded natural beauty.
Yellowstone, Wyoming
If your little ones love nature, then Yellowstone National Park is the place to be. Covering nearly 3,500 square miles, this gigantic area is home to epic canyons, roaring alpine rivers, verdant forests, diverse wildlife and much more. One of the major attractions is the famous Old Faithful geyser, which erupts every 44 to 125 minutes reaching between 106 feet to 185 feet each time – certainly worth the wait!
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
This picture-perfect peninsula is a great place to spend quality time with the family as it is incredibly peaceful, friendly and safe with a number of inviting towns filled with quaint shops, seafood shacks and museums. It is a popular destination in the summer thanks to the beautiful beaches, waterfront dining and fun activities available.
As you can see, North America is a fantastic place for an unforgettable family vacation with many superb places to choose from. There is something for everyone here whether you are the type of family that likes to get out into nature or explore exciting and eclectic cities. You are all sure to have a great time at any of the above destinations and make many happy memories together with each place being particularly well-suited to children. In addition to this, North America is a good choice for a family as it is English-speaking with a very similar culture, so important factors like communication, food and etiquette are not an issue.
Being from the Los Angeles area I am a bit biased. Although, I love traveling around the US and the world. i think California is the best place to get to see so many things in one place .
California has a lot of great stuff to do all in one state that is for sure!
