When the summer holidays were around the corner I had visions of us playing out in the garden, feeding the ducks and picnics in the park. I was obviously going for the whole sunny weather thing! We’ve had a few rainy days, which are no fun going out with the kids, so have been having fun at home – including some pretend play and fancy dress. Ain’t no party like a fancy dress party!
George at Asda have a great range of fancy dress costumes. There were so many different ones for us to choose from but in the end Max chose Spiderman and Captain America and Chloe I chose Tinkerbell and Sully for her, because basically, how cute is the Sully outfit?! The prices are really good too, some were even £5 but most around £10 – £12 which I think is totally reasonable.
I was really impressed with the quality of the outfits too. They have been washed several times and still remain the same, no bobbles, and the ‘muscles’ on Max’s outfits have all stayed in place. I think the costumes are absolutely value for money.
Anyway, we went shopping to get some bits to eat. Max really likes to help me with baking so we made some minion cupcakes and his favourite, chocolate cake in the morning, ready to party in the afternoon. We had one of Max’s friends come round and they had a great time being superheroes, watching a movie and having some yummy treats. We’ve never really had fancy dress costumes in for the kids before, other than a Halloween costume, so I’m loving that Max now asks to wear his Spiderman costume all the time – even to bed!
It was such a great way to spend a rainy day afternoon. What do you like to do on those days?
