I have a son who is a keen gamer, and other than the console itself and games, I do struggle to think of gaming gifts that he’s like, that would actually be useful. With his birthday in December, as well as Christmas, there are quite a few things that I need to come up with soon, especially if I want to spread the cost a little too.

Orb Case-X Rechargeable Game Controller Case
One thing that we have been trying out to see if it is any good (and does hold a useful purpose for gamers), is the Orb Case-X Rechargeable Game Controller Case. Not only does it look good, and pretty swanky to have with your gaming gear, but it serves a great purpose too. By keeping your controller charged and ready for action, you’re ready to play whenever. Our charger has been broken previously, so my son has had to play with his controller attached to the console with a cable. Not ideal, especially if you want to sit back and play and not be right near the screen. So this has been ideal to try out.

What’s in the box?
In the box, you get:
- 1 x Orb – Case-X
- 1 x USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable
- 1 x USB-A to 2-in-1 Micro-USB & USB-C Cable
- 1 x Instruction Manual

Ease of use?
It is really easy to set up and get started. There is a USB to connect the box to a charger, and then you use the other USB cable to connect the controller to the box (done inside so when the box is charged, you can charge the controller wirelessly). It was easy to use and quick to work, with an on button on the box too, so you don’t waste any of that precious energy charge.
The good news is that you can charge more than one controller using the charged case, using the variety of USB cables. This is a great feature, especially as we have a couple of controllers for the rest of the family to play with.
We have a PS4, which the charging box works well with, but the box does say that it is compatible with most gaming controllers. The case itself looks good, as I’ve mentioned, but inside you know that your controller will be protected as it has protective EVA foam lining, alongside the power pack. I think this is great so you can take your controller on the go, whether you’re travelling, moving house, or just taking it to a friends, in order to play. It has a small handle to carry the case too, if needed.
Value for money?
The rechargeable case is £34.99 which is more on the steep end of things, especially when thinking about a gift. However, I think that if you have a gamer in your life, this is a great piece of kit to make sure that their gaming goes unhinged. I can tell that the case is made well too; it is solid and sturdy. So from that point of view, you’re likely to get value for money too; it will last and last.
Have you heard of this before? It would be great to hear what you think.
