Getting Ready For Christmas: Playmobil Advent Calendars

Look away now if you’re not ready to hear the C word… Christmas! Now that we are in October I think that we can officially talk about it, although I have actually been planning some Christmas things since September. I am normally pretty organised but this is early, even for me! There are so many things out in the shops, though, and quite a lot of good deals on too, so now is as good of a time as any, I think.

Advent Calendars from Playmobil

My son’s birthday is 1st December, so he has always had something extra special to open, and with his birthday gifts, he has always had a nice advent calendar too. We don’t do the whole elf thing in this house, but I know that for many, 1st December is a pretty exciting day for other households too.

Having an advent calendar is a rite of passage in the run up to Christmas, I think. Plus, having a little gift to open each morning, rather than something sugar-filled, is fun for little ones too. It just adds to the whole excitement of Christmas. And I know for my two, Christmas and the run-up will be a bit different this year with no Christmas plays and Christmas parties, so something a little extra special is fine with me. These advent calendars from Playmobil are great, and are really affordable compared to some others that are out there.

I really like the size of the advent calendars, as it isn’t something small and fiddly, but works well for little hands to get each little toy out of each door. It was easy for both children to open, and they were very excited about it all too! The design and colours of the calendars are really striking, but are still themed with a winter and Christmas vibe; they look great!

Each advent calendar comes with a ‘scene’ made from card that can be set up without having to open up the boxes. Then on each day, you can place each new toy in the scene, or just play with them. I think this is a really fun feature so you can look forward to seeing each new item each day, and how it fits into the scene. It also means that you can go ahead and play with them all, day after day, as they don’t just have to be for Christmas.

These two have been made up with their advent calendars, and I think they will make a great choice in the run up to Christmas. You get value for your money, as there is something to open on each day, with full-sized Playmobil figures included too. I’m really pleased with them, so if you’re on the lookout for a different kind of advent calendar, then look no further than Playmobil (they have a range to choose from for a variety of ages, not just these two styles).

Have you even thought about Christmas yet? Do you love to get fun advent calendars? It would be great to hear what you think.

*the advent calendars from Playmobil were gifted in exchange for review. All words and opinions are my own and I would only recommend something that I would purchase myself.
