Giving it a Tri

If you follow the blog regularly, you will know that I am a healthier eating mission and a goal to get back to my prime fitness level. I am all signed up to do a Run or Dye colour run in October and I am now signed up to do my first ever triathlon – eeeeeek!

After hearing about the Castle Triathlon Series and their new tri distance – the Starter Sprint – I thought it would be the perfect introduction to doing a Triathlon, without it being too crazy of a distance. The starter sprint is:

~ 200m Swim

~ 15km Bike

~ 2km Run

I can run a pretty decent 5k but the thought of having to cycle 20km and swim 750m before hand is quite daunting (a sprint triathlon) so these distances will be very achievable, for basically everyone. I have always wanted to do a triathlon so this will be a nice introduction and perhaps I’ll then get the big to do bigger and better distances.

The Castle Series are, as the name suggests, all at Castles! The one I’ll be doing is at Hever Castle (gorgeous), and one of the others they do is at Castle Howard in Yorkshire, which I have also visited and it is also lovely. What gorge places to swim, cycle and run? The other races are Lough Cutra Castle, Cholmondeley Castle and Château de Chantilly.

So, I’ve got until September to get some training in  but I’m quite looking forward to it (albeit rather nervous too)! Have you ever thought of giving a Triathlon a go? The new starter sprint is a good reason to get started…

  • Wow, that’s impressive. I don’t think I could do all that, for a start I hate going on my bike! I do love to run though and swimming is good too. Good luck with the training hun, I look forward to hearing how you get on. xx

  • I quite like the idea of a trithalon but I’m not a very strong swimmer so I don’t know if it would be for me. Good luck with your training x

  • Amazing! I’m a terrible swimmer and haven’t been on a bike in probably 6 years but I would love to work up to one, good for you! Best of luck and I look forward to seeing how your training goes leading up to the event! Thanks for linking up with #BloggingToJogging xx
