Great Places to Take Your Children This Christmas

We are fast approaching the end of the summer holidays. I know, sorry to remind you, but it’s true – no more summer vacations… You probably haven’t even started thinking about Christmas yet. After all, halloween is before that. If you’re British, you’ve also got bonfire night and Americans have thanksgiving to look forward to. But if you’re planning on going away this Christmas you should start thinking about it now. It’s the perfect time to book because hotels and flights are still cheap – we booked our Thailand flights at Christmas time last year and it was a bargain (relatively)! The rush hasn’t begun yet. The question then becomes, where are you going? Allow me to offer some suggestions.

Christmas In Disney

You might be wondering why on earth you would go to Disney at Christmas. You would have to be absolutely stark raving mad. The prices are the highest at this time, and the crowds reach unbelievable levels. In fact, the park has been known to close to visitors during this time due to overcrowding, so getting up early is a must. But ignoring all the negatives, Christmas at Disney World Florida is just incredible. There are special events that only run this time of year for those lucky enough to attend. The hotel rooms are decorated to be even more magical. There is another point you need to know. If you do go at Christmas, be sure that you stay in a disney hotel. Otherwise you won’t get into the parks on busy days. Fake snow covers the Main Street USA and lucky guests are given presents. You may think you have experienced Disney but until you’ve been at Christmas, you haven’t seen anything.

A Truly Magical Time

Of course, you may want to have a more traditional festive family holiday. If that’s the case, take a trip to Lapland. There you can have holiday fun in the lapland snow. Your little ones will be able to interact with Santa’s reindeer in their natural home. There are a lot of fun family activities available like skiing, and messing around on snow skis. You will also be pleased to hear that no matter how popular it is for a Christmas destination, the crowds are nowhere near as bad as Disney. You will have plenty of space for your family to play through the day and then go in, curling up near a warm winter fire. Then, of course, on at least one of the days you should take the kids to meet the big man himself, Santa! A trip to lapland is not as costly as you might think. It will be no more than your average summer beach holiday if you book early enough, I guarantee it.

Escaping Christmas

Finally, a choice that is becoming more and more popular is heading off to the tropics. Escape the bustle of the season and relax on the sand with the family in Hawaii. Just make sure you book a flight before the rest of the kids break from school. Otherwise, you are looking at some nightmarish prices!
