Christmas isn’t really the time for home renovations, especially when you have family and friends flitting in and out. But that doesn’t mean you can’t give your home a new lease of life in time for the festive season, these small design tweaks can have a big impact.
Trying just one of these can make a big difference to your space, and give it a freshened up feeling without causing too much damage along the way, and not a huge dent on your bank balance either.
Lick of paint
If your walls are painted in the home, then going over them with the same shade can freshen up the paint. You could even change the shade or tone of the colour if you wish. Painting the walls is a great option because it’s a lot easier than having to wallpaper, and it can be cheaper too.
A statement colour
Are there rooms in your home with neutral colours like grey or cream, why not try to add a bold new colour in with them. Forest green, teal or navy looks great with grey and they’re perfect for this time of year. If you’ve got cream or beige as your neutral try a beautiful burgundy shade to add some richness to the room.
Kitchen cabinet handles
Give your kitchen a new look by changing the handles on your kitchen cabinets. It’s a really easy and cheap way of updating the kitchen, a usually really expensive room to decorate.
Lighting
The right lighting in any room can work wonders, and adding in some feature lighting to kitchens, lounges, dining rooms or bathrooms can have a big impact. Look at the site Light Supplier for some great inspiration, we love under cabinet lighting in the kitchen for a quick and easy fix for a new look.
Bedding
Not only will new bedding get you really excited to get in there, but if you pick a gorgeous print, something a little glitzy, or a bold colour they can help to lift the bedroom too.
Rearrange the furniture
Work with what you already have to give your rooms a new look. If it’s possible can you move the furniture around to give your home a new look? Just changing up the position of something can make a big difference to the look and feel of a home.
Cushions
Throw pillows and cushions might seem like something extra and unnecessary, but they can be great for giving your living room or bedroom a new look. Add in some printed cushions or an eye catching colour to give the sofa or bed a new accessory.
Thanks for the tips. It’s our first Xmas to host the family and I really want to try and make it special.
I’m also enjoying browsing your site in general. Great job!
