  1. Start with the basics. Before you dive into the proper details, consider what kind of summer you’re looking for. Is it a laid back, do nothing kind of vibe or an action-packed adventure with the kids? Knowing your ideal pace helps to shape everything else.If you’re looking for flexibility and a sense of freedom, staying at an RV park can be a great starting point. This gives you a mix of comfort and the outdoors, all with your own schedule.
  2. Have a loose plan. A fully packed itinerary can turn a holiday into a hustle rather than something fun. Instead, pick a few anchor activities like beach days or museum visits, or even a family hike. You can then let the rest fall into place around those activities. Kids and adults often enjoy the unexpected as much as the planned.Leaving space in your schedule allows you to have spontaneous ice cream runs, lazy afternoons, or that quirky roadside attraction you didn’t know existed.
  3. Mix up your activities. Balance is always key when it comes to planning the perfect summer break. Try to include a mix of outdoor fun, creative time and a few chilled out moments. A beach day followed by an evening of board games or a long hike capped with a movie night under the stars gives everybody a chance to reach. Don’t forget to add in a little bit of learning along the way, like nature trails, science centres or museums. It keeps things interesting and sparks curiosity in kids and grown-ups alike.
  4. Make sure that you involve everybody. Even the youngest family members will have an idea of what they’d like to do with their summer break, so give everybody a chance to feel included. It could be something as simple as building a sandcastle or having pancakes for dinner. When you give everybody a voice, not only will it take the pressure off you, but it builds anticipation and excitement for later.
  5. Be smart with your packing. If you’re going on a vacation, choose somewhere that has a washer dryer so that you don’t have to pack too heavy. Whether you’re hitting the road or flying out, you don’t want to end up overpacking and bringing outfits you’re never going to use.
  6. Capture the moments without living on your phone. Always take photos and jot down little memories, but don’t get so focused on capturing every second that you forget to enjoy yourself. Sometimes it’s the best moments that are the ones where everyone’s too busy laughing to pick up a phone.
