Having an excellent quality of your life is so important. It is also far more attainable than you might think. Try the following five things and see your the quality of your own improve.
Challenge Yourself
“Do one thing every day that scares you!” It’s debatable as to who said this first. However, no matter who the quote belongs to, it is very true. One of the best ways to challenge yourself is by learning something new. Learning new skills stimulates your brain and equips you with different ways of handling situations.
Challenging yourself could also involve taking an approach to things. Be bold and stop hesitating when it comes to making decisions. Imitate the people who inspire you. Get rid of people who have a negative influence on your life.
Spend time with the Young and the Old
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of perspective different to our own. Children are great for this and is one of the many reasons I love being a mother. They see the world in a different way and appreciate it in a way that we sometimes forget too. They’re also great at asking questions. Children are so impressionable. Be a role model for them and they will reward you with their own brand of wisdom.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is the elderly, of course. They too have wisdom, except there’s is a little more legitimate! Listen to their stories and learn from their lessons.
Sense Better
Our senses are so important to us; they are one of the things that have made the human race survive for this long. So why do we sometimes neglect them? Our hearing, sight, taste, touch and smell should be nurtured properly. To improve the quality of your life, make sure each is in tip-top condition. Stop smoking to improve your taste and smell. Never listen to music on full volume to preserve your hearing. Consider laser eye surgery for sharper vision; see here for more info on this. Indulge in a massage to revitalise your muscles and enjoy the marvel of touch.
Give Back to Society
You know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you help a little old lady onto a bus? Or help a mother carry a pram down a flight of stairs? That feeling is within your grasp far more often if become a volunteer. There is sure to be a worthy cause you can help with. Don’t like animals? How about the elderly? Don’t like the idea of stewarding? How about a few hours every weekend in a charity shop?
You could even take things one step further and move into a job that revolves around helping others. Midwifery and Occupational Therapy are two very worthy examples of this.
Get into Nature
Drive to a field in the middle of nowhere and look at the stars. Sleep under the stars. Swim in the ocean in the middle of winter. Whatever you do, get out into nature and reconnect yourself with all that you’ll find there. Even just getting out into the fresh air once in awhile will make a difference.
What do you to help you get back to nature and reflect on the more important things in life?
