5 Staples For Your Man’s Spring & Summer Wardrobe

So the weather has been perking up (for the most part), over the past couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it will only continue to get warmer as we come into the summer months. But as the weather is starting to change, you might be looking to get a few new items for your wardrobe – I know I am. My husband has been looking for a few new bits too, which can be quite a big deal as he hardly ever likes to spend money on clothes. He much prefers a capsule style of wardrobe, with a few staple pieces that will all work together, or work fine individually too.

They might be classed as basics, but they are far from it. So if you are helping your man pick some new clothes for your holiday or just for the summer weekends, then here are some staples that they need in their wardrobe.

Slim Fit Chinos

For the winter, a good pair of denim, slim-fit jeans are the perfect item. But for summer, the hope is to ditch the jeans, wear your shorts and swim shorts more, as well as some slim-fit chinos. The good thing is that they are versatile and can work for work or more formal occasions, like a summer wedding when teamed with a blue blazer, for example. But they totally work for casual days too. They can be rolled up, they look good with canvas pumps, as well as some suede boating-style shoes.

Shorts

It goes without saying that you’ll need shorts for summer. It might be a good idea to get one or two pairs, depending on your style. A darker slim-fit pair is a good idea, as well as a cargo pair, perhaps. Then you’ve got a pair for every occasion over the summer. Just make sure that you choose your fit well. It can be a good idea to roll up the bottom of the shorts if needed, if you prefer the look to be above knee.

White Crew Neck T-Shirt

Much like a crisp white oxford shirt for winter, a white crew neck tee is the state you need for summer. First of all, it goes with basically anything. With denim? Check. With swim shorts? Check. With chinos? Check. The versatility makes it the best thing to have in your wardrobe. You can layer it under a shirt, as well as just by itself to show of some bronzed skin.

Canvas Pumps

Canvas pumps can pretty much become your best friend in the spring and summer. Not all days or occasions will call for flip-slops or sliders, so pumps are the comfy, as well as stylish, go-to. A breton stripe tee and some rolled up shorts will be a good look with canvas pumps, as well as cargo shorts and a white tee. They just help you to look effortlessly presentable.

Wayfarers

The wayfarer shape of glasses are one of the best around. They just seem to suit every face shape there is. Famous for being worn by the likes of Steve McQueen and JFK, they are effortless chic. They just bring an outfit together in the summer, as well as protecting you from eh sun’s harmful rays, of course. Winning.

Any of these things take your fancy? And thanks to the husband and two of his brothers for posing for me!
