When I first started out blogging, there were a few people that I followed that started doing a podcast. It was only occasional, but I enjoyed essentially listening to their ‘blog posts,’ and having conversations with other bloggers with similar (or different) experiences. Roll on years later, and it seems like there are so many different podcasts out there!
When I’m driving in the car or feeding the baby, having something to listen to where you can genuinely learn something or feel like part of a discussion on something is really interesting, and feels like time better spent than aimlessly watching something on Netflix for the millionth time. With my wireless headphones from audio-technica I can also listen to podcasts doing chores around the house, and not having to bother the rest of the family with the noise.
With so many different podcasts out there, there really are podcasts for everyone. My husband definitely prefers to listen to different podcasts to me, but if you’re looking for something new out there to listen to, I thought I would share some of my favourite podcasts with you. It would be great to hear some of your favourites too; there are many to choose from!
Happy Mum, Happy Baby
This is a fabulous podcast from Giovanna Fletcher, the Queen of the Castle herself. It has been running for years, and I remember discovering it when I was in the trenches of motherhood with a baby and a toddler. I have also read her book of the same name, which I enjoyed.
Although it is something that I hadn’t listened to for a while, being back with a newborn has really been interesting to think about all things baby again. There have been some amazing guests like the Duchess of Cambridge, to guests like Samantha Cameron and Emma Bunton who have had some interesting stories to share. Essentially, it is easy to listen to, and while there are things that I learn, it is a reassuring podcast that really, we live the same lives. Babies are very similar and sharing similar experiences with ‘celebrities’ makes it a feel good podcast for parents, but especially mums.
Getting Curious is a podcast from the Queer Eye star, Jonathan Van Ness. Although I only started to listen to it in the first place because I was a fan of JVN, it is one of my favourites. It is a podcast where I genuinely come away learning something new. The guests can totally vary from celebrities to experts in their field, and the topics can be anything from mental health to politics. A lot of the politics and events discussed are US-based, but that still makes it interesting and gives me a different perspective and understanding on certain topics.
You might not know that the food blogger turned plant-based entrepreneur also has a podcast. I have been a fan of Ella’s products for a while now, so I was keen to listen to the podcast. Of course, a fair few topics are around veganism and plant-based living, but there are a lot of interesting topics from mental health to sleep, stress, and exercise. The expert guests that they get for the podcast have all been really interesting (especially the one around sleep). I have learned a lot from each episode, so I would definitely recommend it if you’re interested in healthy living or want to improve your health or wellbeing.
Telling Everyone Everything
This is a podcast from comedian Katherine Ryan. I think she is hilarious, and her podcast is no different. Covering a range of topics, this is definitely a podcast that is light relief, compared to some more ‘heavy’ ones that are out there. Definitely worth a listen if you want to be entertained but still learn something along the way.
Have you got any favourite podcasts? It would be great to hear what you think.
