I have been curious about keto for a while now, as I have heard that it is a great way to lose weight, as well as shed fat to be more shredded. With my PCOS, I have heard that it was great for weight loss, as it is all about eating more fat, and keeping carbs pretty low. And because of insulin-resistance, carbs are pretty much the enemy. I have had no idea where to start with keto, though! It seems like such a minefield, as how do I know I am eating the right percentage of things?
I was so pleased when I heard that Myprotein had a new keto protein powder. Not only will it help people looking to use it after exercise, but it can be used as a way to eat the keto way, without having to think about all of the meal planning. I was really looking forward to giving it a try.
what is the ketogenic diet?
The ketogenic diet is one that is high-fat, having adequate-protein, but being low in carbohydrate diet. It forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates, so it can be a great aid for weight loss.

keto protein
There are three favours available, but the ones that I have been trying out are strawberry and vanilla, as well as chocolate and caramel. They are just made up with two scoops of powder and water, so it is handy to have with you on the go. The blend is made up of a keto-friendly ratio of macronutrients, with 60% fat, 35% protein and only 5% carbs. So it makes it a great way to keep on track of your goals, meet your protein requirements, but still be sticking to eating a ketogenic diet.
Each serving gives you 15g of fat per serving. The sources of fat are healthy fats, though, including coming from eggs, coconuts, and avocados. Each serving also gives 20g of protein, which is an ideal amount for the day. Plus, when you’re eating a ketogenic diet, you can lose muscles tone, so protein will help to keep you working towards your goals.
what does it taste like?
At the end of the day, details and science aside, you want to know what you are eating something that tastes good. Otherwise it is just not going to make a difference because you won’t want to have it.
In all honesty, I really liked both flavours that I tired. They are quite a thick shake, though you could always add more water you prefer it to not be as thick. There was nothing wrong with the taste though, I’d easily have them again.

results
For me, the results are hard to measure really, as it depends on what you are looking to do with it. I have been using it as a meal replacement, having a shake for breakfast (post-workout), one for lunch, an then a regular meal for dinner (well, a meal as keto as possible). I have lost weight with it though (seven pounds in two weeks), which I am really plased with. I have a lot to go in terms of muscle tone, so that is probably the hardest area to measure, but I have felt the benefit of it.
I enjoyed using the shakes, and I would definitely use them again; keto obviously works for me. One thing to note was how full I felt with them. When I have just had shakes for breakfast and lunch before, I have always felt hungry, but this has left me not feeling hungry at all. I suppose it is all of the fat in the shakes that helps to keep you feeling full, as well as the protein. I was really impressed with this aspect of it; a big selling point for me.
Have you ever tried the keto diet before? What do you think to the shakes? It would be great to hear what you think.
