How do you feel as you look around your home? Bored, uninspired? Perhaps it’s time for a new look! Getting a new look for your home is the perfect way to celebrate a new season, a new chapter in your life, or for any reason you can think of. You don’t need a reason to make your home look fresh again! These simple tips will help you to come up with a brand new look that you absolutely love:
Check Out Colour Wheels
If you want to come up with a new colour scheme for your home, make sure you check out a colour wheel beforehand. The color wheel will allow you to find the colours that go best together, and even colours that contrast well. You don’t need to worry about choosing colours that clash or don’t look good anymore. You should also bear in mind that different colours create different moods. For example, blue is relaxing, whereas red is quite energetic.
Create Your Own Mood or Vision Board
Create your own mood or vision board to help you work out what sort of look you want to create in your home. If you notice any recurring patterns, you know that it’s something you really like and should include in your home. You can do this in person or make it online to help you. This can give you the guidance you need when you’re choosing paint, wallpaper, accessories, etc. You can find great inspiration on sites like Million Dollar Makeovers.
Consider Your Lifestyle
When coming up with a new look for your home, you’ll need to consider your lifestyle. If you have a large family, will your new sofa be able to seat you all when you’re spending time together? If you have a dog, is it a good idea to invest in a slippery floor? Your home not only needs to look good, it needs to be practical too!
Take Your Personality into Account
You want your home to show off your personality, right? When guests come over, they should be able to learn a little about you. Don’t be afraid to use your favourite colours, patterns, and things like that. Neutral might sell better and be easier to accessorise, but it isn’t the be all and end all.
Consult Your Family
If you live with family, make sure you consult them too. You’re all going to be living in it, so it only makes sense to see what they think of your ideas. Maybe they have an even better idea, or can give you some input to help?
Hopefully, these tips help you to come up with a lovely new design for your home. Don’t start buying things without properly looking into the style you’re going for, knowing your colour schemes, and other important aspects of decorating. If you’re not careful, you might end up with a huge mishmash of styles. Fine if that’s your thing, but if it isn’t, you need to plan properly. Do you have any plans to update your home this spring?

I think I love putting together more inspiration/mood boards than actually doing the decorating as I change my mind so much! It’s always important to think about a lifestyle as you might love something that just doesn’t suit young kids, something people sometimes forget when imagining decorating x

Great tips, love the moodboard idea. Think it is very wise to consult family rather than go full steam ahead with only thinking about what you like and what works for you.
