Have Your Kids Try Something New With Free #TennisForKids

When I was growing up, I played a lot of sport. I was constantly at training, matches or after-school clubs when I was younger and in my teen years. So an active lifestyle, especially over the coming summer months, is something that I really want my kids to be have too. I like that being active can take all sorts of forms, from playing games in the garden, to more structured lessons or matches.

I’ll tell you what, though, although I was into playing sport, I never watched too much of it until I met my (now) husband. He is big into his sport too, particularly of motorsport and tennis. I had never watched a Wimbledon final until I met him (although I was on my school’s tennis team)! As a result, we want our children to try Screen Shot 2017-04-18 at 19.13.50a variety of different sports. Mainly for fun, but if they excel at it and want to pursue it, then we’d totally encourage that too.

Max has had a keen interest in sport and loves to be active. He has played football for a couple of years, as well as had swimming lessons. But tennis is something that we are keen to get him into, as it is one of our favourites (we’re still holding out hope that we get our Wimbledon tickets this summer, but that is a whole other story).

So when we heard all about the LTA’s free tennis lessons for children aged 5 – 8, I was really keen to sign Max up. He has had a few lessons before, but nothing like these. So we can see how he gets on with the free lessons (sox over a six week period).

The lessons are available to any children aged 5- to 8-years-old. So I think it is a great thing to get your younger ones involved with over summer. You can just sign up for the free lessons via the ClubSpark website, and find out where your nearest club is. The lessons start from 22nd April so it is a good idea to have a look now and get your kids signed up, as once the places are gone, they are gone. At least for this year anyway. You never know, you might have the next Andy Murray in your house.

*I’m working in a paid relationship with the Lawn Tennis Association on their #TennisForKids campaign. Sign up for your FREE tennis activity here.

Do you think you’ll sign your kids up for the lessons? I think it is a great incentive, and the fact that it is free to try is amazing. I’d love to hear if you do and what your kids think of it. Will certainly report back about how Max gets on.
