Olympic Fever | Introducing The Britannia Sofa from DFS

*This is a paid for advertorial post with DFS.

I literally can’t believe that the Olympics are here again this summer. It feels like hardly any time that they were in London in 2012. I can vividly remember watching the games, the feeling when we won gold and even being able to go to the Olympic park. But then again, Max was just a baby and  he starts school in September, so maybe I can believe it?!

I love the Olympics and supporting our team. I get well into it and am pretty much hooked the whole time. I used to be quite sporty myself and just love the adrenalin and competitive feel of it all. Not to mention the patriotism – I love any excuse to love being British! Have you got any fond memories from the London Olympics?

DFS and their design director, Philip Watkin, have created the Britannia; a limited edition sofa that celebrates all things British and Team GB. It will be somewhere that the athletes can relax when they are over in Rio, being the centrepiece of the home that they will all be staying at. Philip Watkin says of the sofa:

“As the official homeware partner for Team GB, we wanted to create something that our own craftspeople could apply their skills to in order to support our athletes when they most needed to relax during the games. In doing so, we set out to design an iconic piece of furniture that would represent Great Britain’s proud history of design, quality and craftsmanship. We enlisted the help of one of the best fabric suppliers in the UK to join forces with our own upholstery team to hand-craft an update on the Chesterfield classic that Olympics fans can cherish for years to come. “

I think it is really lovely, classically British and will be perfect for the Olympians.

Do you have any favourite athletes or Olympians? I remember watching the Super Saturday when Jessica Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah all won gold. What stood out for me in the last Olympics was the cyclists – Britain just seem to be on fire with cycling! I was so impressed by them and their dedication to training. As a former Triathlete (I use that term very loosely), I thought the women’s team were obviously rather inspiring to me. With the likes of Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell, and Danielle King. They were just getting medal after medal after medal…

Are you excited for the Olympics? I’d love to hear what you think to the sofa too!
