If you are planning a trip or a family getaway, Bluestone National Park Resort in Wales is a great option. We have been there twice now and I wouldn’t hesitate to go again (even if the weather is questionable, but hey we live in the UK) 😉
Generally we have just self-catered. We have taken food with us the first time, but it took up so much room in the car. So the second time, we decided to buy food when we were there. There is large Tesco in Haverfordwest, which is about 15 minutes drive from the resort. There is an Aldi and Lidl in Haverfordwest too. We found this much easier. There is an on site store which is great for a few little treats or last minute bits. Though there are things there to make meals with, it is a little pricey in my opinion.
The second thing I would recommend is to book your activities, and even restaurant bookings in advance. We wanted to eat down at Camp Smokey one of the lunchtimes, and we looked to book it the night before. All the decent times had been booked and we ended up with 2pm. Not the end of the world but could have been avoided if we had booked well in advance. You can’t necessarily just turn up to things unfortunately.
Towels are provided in the accommodation, along with one toilet roll per bathroom. So I would recommend taking a couple of toilet rolls, as well as your own towels for swimming. There are no washing machines in the accommodation, so you don’t want to get the bathroom towels full of chlorine, as you’ll have them all week / weekend. You need your own toiletries and hairdryer etc. Along the lines of swimming, make sure that you take swim nappies with you. You can buy them there, but at £1 each, it is more cost effective to take a pack with you. You also need a £1 coin for the swimming lockers. The lockers aren’t huge so you might need two lockers like we did, so just bear it in mind.
I would recommend doing some activities off site too. A trip to the beach is a must! There are so many gorgeous ones to choose from. Even just driving around the area is stunning – Pembrokeshire is just beautiful!
The last thing I would add, is don’t plan too much. It is an active holiday with plenty to do; you don’t want to end up feeling too exhausted at the end of it.
Enjoy!

Great tips here lovely, especially about booking the activities and restaurants in advance! I’d also advise people to book a golf buggy in advance as well (if they want one obviously) as we arrived on the Monday and by the time we visited the buggy centre the following morning to hire one, they’d all sold out for the week. xx
I really want to visit Bluestone it looks like a lovely place. I always find tips from people who have visited places before really helpful especially as this kind of thing is usually missed out of brochures #kcacols

Oh my goodness, Bluestone and the beach looks heavenly – absolutely stunning pics. I’ve never been to Wales but we’re planning on going this summer, on the way to get the ferry to Ireland. I’m not sure if it’s possible for us to stop here, but looks like a great option. #KCACOLS

Great tips. Thanks for sharing. I would really love to stay here for a few days. Because we would be traveling on a ferry from Ireland it must be at least 4 or 5 days.
