Project Extension: Finishing Touches with Best at Flooring

If you follow me on social media (mainly Instagram), you will have seen that we have been having an extension built over the past few weeks. The building works started in December, but  with some bad weather, Christmas, and a few random weeks off, we have only just had it finished. But I am so excited to use the space that we have; I’m really pleased with it.

We have a few finishing touches left to do to the room, such as getting some artwork or photographs on the wall, as well as getting a floor lamp and some storage. But we are getting there.

The floor went in a couple of days ago, but with them being tile, we were pretty sure that a rug would work well in there to break up the block tiling that we have for the floor.

The main colour scheme of the room is white and grey, with grey flooring, so a patchwork Manhattan rug from BestAtFlooring.co.uk looked like a great option to us. It adds some texture and colour to the room, and just makes the room, and the floor, just look complete. We don’t have any other rugs in the rest of the house so I am surprised at how much of a difference they can make to the look and style of the room.

Rug Details

I have been so impressed with the overall look and feel of the rug. I wasn’t sure how much of a ‘patchwork’ rug would work, but it looks really striking. The subtle designs add something new to the room. But one of the most lovely things about the rug is the material, it is made from chenille, and for me, offers style and durability all in one. It is soft and the children have been loving playing on there, which is great for a room that has hard tile flooring other than that.

The great thing about the materials is that the quality of the rug really shows. When you’ve got children, you need to have something that is really durable and resistant to wear and tear. Though the extension (that we will use as a dining room), won’t have loads of footfall, knowing that we have a durable rug is reassuring. I had no idea that it had that quality.

A rug made form a natural material like wool is also likely to be more hygienic than synthetic materials, which has got to be a good thing with little ones around!

I am thrilled with the rug that we have, and think that it really completes the extensions. Just something for the wall and then we’ll be good to go!

Have you got any interior renovations or redecorating planned? Would love to hear what you think!
