Max just keeps getting better and better with his words and reading. He is recognising more letters and sounding out more word sounds. So, I thought I would share what his favourite bedtime reads are at the moment as I haven’t done so for a while.
~ The Magic Porridge Pot by Mike & Carl Gordon
It is the original Brothers Grimm story so everyone will pretty much know it, but Max loves looking at the pictures and saying ‘stop porridge stop’ at the right parts. Its fun to read it with him! It is the perfect length in my opinion and works really well for little ones from toddler to pre-school age.
~ Stick Man by Julia Donaldson
Julia Donaldson can do know wrong really, after the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom, and Stick Man is no different. Stick Man lives in the family tree with his stick wife and stick children and its all about his crazy adventures – its dangerous being a stick when a dog wants to play with you! Max really likes it and it is a good length and not too ‘wordy’.
~ King of the Railway by Rev W Audry
I have a train obsessed young man so this is an absolute winner and his current favourite. It always amazes me how good his memory is and he will remember the new trains names after I have told them once. It is quite long so definitely only suitable for over three year olds but if you have someone that loves trains, they will love it.
What are you reading together at the moment? I’m always on the look out for new books for my littles.
Some lovely books there, I love the magic porridge pot.
The other day when I collected my daughter from nursery, they asked me if we had Stick Man at home because she seemed to know all the words… perhaps I should invest in a copy!
aww great post, thanks
Anything by Julia Donaldson is always a winner in our house. My little mans fav at the moment is: the little rabbit who liked to say moo. #lovetoread
I think pretty much anything by Julia Donaldson is pretty fab to be honest. We’re loving dinosaur themed books in our house at the moment 🙂 thanks for linking up to #kltr
Oh we love the Stick Man book too. It is so good to read together and not only helps build literacy skills but builds bonds and relationships and at the end of the day family is the most important thing. Thanks for linking up to #KLTR
