Look away now if you are someone that is not ready to hear the C word… Christmas, of course! Now that autumn and October are in full swing, I think we can definitely start talking about it. I for one have been in major nesting mode with a Christmas baby on the way, and making sure that everything is sorted for my other children. I bought their selection packs and chocolate coins today – here’s hoping they last until the day itself. I am normally pretty organised but this is quite early, even for me! There are a lot of good deals on at the moment too, so it is a good time to get ready so you can enjoy the festive season.
Playmobil Advent Calendars
Max’s birthday is on 1st December, so he always gets an array of advent calendars for his birthday. Because of his birthday and because I really am not an elf mum, we don’t do the whole elf on the shelf thing. But whatever you choose to do, 1st December can be a pretty exciting day for little ones to wake up to.
I loved having an advent calendar in the run up to Christmas when I was younger. That being said, they were never as fancy as the ones that you can get now. I loved having something to open each morning and was always disciplined enough that I only opened one a day. Having something to open just adds to the whole excitement of Christmas. And I know for my two children, Christmas will be super exciting again this year (hopefully) with things returning a little more to normal this year. These advent calendars from Playmobil are great, and are really affordable compared to some others that are out there. I think that you get a lot of value for your money too – they come with a lot of different toys and accessories, all with the quality that you would expect from Playmobil.

Royal Picnic Advent Calendar – £19.99

Novelmore Advent Calendar – £39.99
I really like the size of the advent calendars. They aren’t small and the Playmobil figures are full size. The compartments for each day are easy to open and for little hands to reach into. Each of the designs look really striking, with great colours and designs, and although these two aren’t necessarily a Christmas theme, you can get more Christmassy ones if you want to. The extras with the Novelmore calendar are great too. You get a whole castle ready to use before you’ve even opened a door on the calendar, so it makes it an extra special choice.

One of these comes with a castle ready to go, as mentioned. But the other comes with a ‘scene’ that is made from card so that you have a background ready to go, and then you can add the items that you get each day to the scene. I think that this is a fun feature so that you can look forward to seeing what you get each day and then having it set up ready to play with. They don’t have to be just for Christmas either, and can be used all year rounds to play with.
My two children have been really pleased with their advent calendars, and it would be great to see what the full sets look like by the time Christmas rolls around. They are a really fun choice to have for the run up to Christmas. Because the figures are full size and good quality, I do think that you get good value for money. They will last and last and can be used for years and years to come. I am also really pleased with the calendars, so I do think that if you are looking for a toy advent calendar this year, then you don’t need to look any further than Playmobil. With different styles to choose from and for different age ranges, there are a number of choices for little ones.

Have you made a start with Christmas yet? What do you think to these advent calendars? It would be great to hear what you think.

*the advent calendars from Playmobil were gifted in exchange for an honest review. All words and opinions are my own and I only recommend products that I would be happy to purchase myself.
