This past Easter weekend was glorious with the sunshine, and there is nothing better, in my opinion, when the weather is sunny and warm, and you can enjoy a fizzy drink, chilled with ice. There is just something that is much more enjoyable about it, compared to just standard water. I know fizzy water can be an acquired taste, but it is one I love, and the bubbles help me to feel fuller for longer, and when you can add some fruit slices, you can get some really tasty refreshment.
I don’t drink tea or coffee, or really any warm drinks in general. It is all about cold drinks for me, so being able to make my own fizzy drinks on tap, literally, is ideal. The good news is that I have the BIBO Fizz to help as spring and summer continue.
What do you get in the box?
The box is fairly compact for what you get in it, which is great. You get the bottle to put your water in, the stand, and a CO2 cylinder. It fits neatly on top of our worktop, so imagine it will be the same for all kitchens. It is tall but slim, and doesn’t take up much space. It is pretty light to manoeuvre too, and I think it looks pretty good. One thing that possibly could be improved could be being able to choose the colour of the BIBO Fizz, but black is a pretty universal colour really.
It was really simple to put together and assemble, and as it doesn’t need to be plugged in anywhere to work, you could have it on the drinks table at parties too, for example. First impressions were really good.
Simple to use
The BIBO Fizz is so simple and quick to use which is why I think it is such a great addition to the kitchen. If you simply want sparkling water, then all you need to do is fill the water bottle to the desired fill level, clip it in, press the button, and away you go! Of course, you can then add flavourings or add fruit slices or squash afterwards, but if you just want sparkling water, it really is that simple.
How many presses you have and how long to hold the button down that releases the carbon dioxide into the water will depend on the drink. If you’re going to be adding flavourings afterwards, then you will need more fizz than if you are just going to drink the sparkling water. There is guidance in the instruction manual, but once you get making, you can sort of work out what is going to work for you and your taste.
When you’ve fizzed your water, you take the bottle out of the holder, and the big cap will come off with it. There is a release valve which lets some of the pressure out, much like when you unscrew the lid off a bottle of fizzy drink. This is good to do as it opens the bottle gradually, so there isn’t a big pop. It really was that simple and easy to use, and my children, aged 8 and 10 were fine with it too (supervised, of course).
Saving us plastic bottles
One of the main features that I like about the BIBO Fizz sparkling water maker is that it will help us on our mission to reduce how much plastic we have in the home. If I was to buy bottles of sparkling water, as I often do, then it does really add up. The bottle that it comes with has one litre capacity, and one of the CO2 cylinders can give you around 60 litres worth of fizzy water!
Not only that, but getting the replacement CO2 cylinder is something that is simple too. When you get your BIBO Fizz, there is a £10 refundable deposit that is added to the cylinders that get sent. There is also a pre-paid returns note that will come with your order. This makes it really simple to send your old cylinder back, and you can get the £10 deposit back. Seems like they have thought of everything to make sure that the cylinders are disposed of in the correct way.
The BIBO Fizz is on offer at the moment for just under £60. On the surface this sounds like a lot of money, but we have honestly used this every day since we have had it. It is so quick and easy to whip up a bottle of sparkling water to have with dinner, or when you just want something different to drink. I have bought fwer plastic bottles of drink, which has got to be a good thing (especially as I try to wean myself off drinking so much Pepsi Max)!
