Review: Box42

Family life can be busy. Getting a babysitter can be tricky when you don’t know people close by, and it can be costly too. And throw that all in with a global pandemic and you’ve got a recipe for staying home. A lot.

Of course, that can be fine, but night after night things can get pretty relentless. When you’re in a relationship, with children or not, it is important to take some time out to date each other, otherwise things can just get a bit samey, monotonous, and just less exciting. Even if you plan to do something at home once the children are in bed, things can get in the way and you might just want to sit silently together (just me)? Ha.

So if you’re looking for something to do at home for a date night, then there is a solution with Box42. I do think when you have paid for something, it is much more likely to happen. Think along the lines of a personal trainer, for example. You’ll go to the gym when you have a session booked in with them won’t you? If you had to go it alone, you’re less likely to show up. So Box42 can be that for your relationship. It is bought and paid for, including everything that you need for a fun date night, which means that it is much more likely to actually happen.

What’s in the box?

What you get in the box is a full date night guide, to guide you through the activity (which you get sent through everything for). the box also includes a curated playlist should you want to play it on the date. It also includes a suggested menu, main course, dessert, and drinks, so that you can buy things ahead of time to then make ahead of time, or make together as part of the date night. You also get some fun accessories to set the mood (think candles or a bow tie), as well as two soft drinks and two snacks to nibble on.

I was sent the casino date night box, which you an buy as a one-off, and the contents inside were really fun, along with the menu with some American / Vegas-themed food and drink. I didn’t quite get dressed up like I would in Vegas or a casino, but that could be fun twist on it if you really wanted to go all out!

Thoughts and Impressions

I think that the idea behind the date night box is brilliant. Instead of just having a meal together or just watching TV or a movie together, it is such a fun idea to do something totally unique. I have been to Las Vegas a number of times but never to gamble, so it was actually quite interesting to learn something new, and learn how to play with the poker chips and deck cards that come in the pack. A lot of fun!

Whether you’re parents who find it easier to just do a date at home, or a couple that just want to do something fun at home rather than elsewhere (give the current climate, am I right) then a date night box from Box42 is a really good idea. It will help to mix things up a bit, try new things, and just have a bit of a giggle together.

One-off box or subscribe monthly

You can choose a one-off box (or order them less frequently than monthly), priced at £33 with free shipping. I think when you think about how much a meal out and a babysitter would cost then it is a good deal, but I also wouldn’t class it as cheap when you still need to buy the ingredients for the meal etc. The current one-off themed boxes that you can buy are Casino date night, like my one, or Tuscan Pottery date night, or coming up in September, a cosy campfire date night box (I imagine s’mores will be in that one – yum)!

You can make each box cheaper with a date night box subscription each month, priced at £29. You can cancel or pause the subscription at anytime and but you get a surprise box each time, so you can try a little bit of everything! If you’ve got the money, then I think it could be a fun thing to invest in each month, to make sure that date nights happen and you keep the fun and romance alive.

Have you heard of the Box42 date night box before? It would be great to hear what you think.
