Review: Steiff & Disney Dumbo Teddy Bear

I recently announced that we are having a baby boy and now we’re just over the half-way point, it feels like a good time to get organised and to get everything sorted for the baby. He will be in with us for the first little while, but getting a bedside crib for him sorted before he goes into a room of his own is next, along with the pushchair and car seat – all of that fun stuff. Being our third child, and having a bit of a gap, we don’t have a lot of the things that we used to, as we thought we wouldn’t be having any more. So getting new bits and bobs is really exciting.

One thing that I like to get for my little ones is some soft toys for those early stages in life. Of course, they can just look cute in their room until they are at an age when they can reach and grab for things, but having a special toy that gets carried along everywhere is something I really adore. Steiff Teddy Bears have a baby range of soft bears, including their traditional bears, a collection of bunnies, as well as a range of Disney soft toys like Tigger and Dumbo. I could resist the Dumbo Soft Cuddle Friend (what a cute name) all ready for baby boy.

One of the main things I love about it just how soft it is; it is super, super soft, which is perfect for tiny hands to be able to grab and touch. It feels lovely. Dumbo is stuffed full of bags of beans in the arms and legs, so he can sit up easily, facing your baby or toddler when on a play mat, for example. I was also really pleased at the size of the bear too. I had imagined that it would be smaller than it is, but it is a really good size, again, good for little ones to grab and cuddle. Priced at £34.99 it also makes it much better value for money than if it had arrived and been a smaller bear.

There is a big bonus point that Dumbo is machine washable at 30 degree, which is definitely very appealing. Although soft toys are lovely for little ones to cuddle, you just know that they are going to get dirty and covered in milk, food, or sticky stuff. This is a big thing for me, as I wasn’t sure it would be washable in a machine, but it is, brilliant.

For anyone expecting, or if you’re looking for a gift for a friend expecting a baby, then the Steiff Bear range is really lovely, and there are different options for different budgets. The quality is amazing as you’d expect from such an iconic toy manufacturer and such a well-renowned brand, who have been making teddies since 1902. So it can be a toy that can last and last in the family. All authentic pieces from Steiff also have a button in the ear, so you know you have a quality product. Some original antique bears go for thousands at auction too!

Have you ever had a Steiff Bear before? It would be great to hear what you think.
