Embracing the Season of Hygge at Home

Summer seems to have well and truly disappeared, and now it’s time to fold away our shorts and t-shirts for another year. Some people find replacing the flip flops for their winter boots a little depressing, but there is so much to look forward too this season, as we embrace the falling leaves and the air gets crisper. Autumn is one of my favourite times of year.

As Anne of Green Gables says: “I’m so thankful that I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

The weather is perfect, not too hot, and not too cold. Things aren’t quite freezing yet, but there is still a nice cool breeze in the air. In fact, often times Autumnal weather can pleasantly surprise us. The

Danish term hygge is still in full force, with its comfort, cosiness, and hibernating style.

One of the downfalls of summer is that we hardly find the time to cook, as we don’t want to be slaving away over a hot oven during a heat wave. We are officially fed up with barbecues and salads and craving good food. Now that Autumn is here and Winter is on its way, it’s time to get back in the kitchen. Enjoy the comfort of this season’s hearty stews, pies and roasts.

Darker days mean cosying up with a blanket in front of your favourite Netflix show (or let’s face it, X-Factor is back on. We all know we’re watching it, right)?! But why not get even cosier with a new recliner chair so you can put your feet up by the fire after a long day. Then you can enjoy some TV guilt free, surrounded by cinnamon scented candles. Bliss. We’ve all watch Joey and Chandler in their recliners green with envy (or maybe thats just me), so it would be a good way to get comfortable and embrace the season of ‘hygge.’ If you have any mobility issues, then a riser recliner chair from Fenetic Wellbeing, could be the thing for you instead. Still comfortable and cosy.

Let’s not forget that now that the sun has disappeared, surplus amounts of hot chocolate is totally justifiable. It would be rude not to include this as part of your Autumnal ritual, right? A pair of new, soft pajamas, loungewear or a onesie is a must during the cooler months. This combined with cosy slippers will have you completely and utterly relaxed. As you drag yourself away from your recliner and into the bedroom, a double tog duvet will provide you with extra warmth and luxury, guaranteeing you a good night’s sleep.

Move over summer, we’re ready for pumpkins, crunchy leaves and ultimate comfort. Snuggle up in your cosiest knitwear, cashmere blankets and all things Autumn; this season is good for the soul.

What are you looking forward to about the season?
