Given that in lockdown in the UK, all shops and stores are closed, other than supermarkets and food shops, I have taken to browsing online for things that I want to get in the house. In an effort to reduce how much we go out, even to the supermarket, especially for getting things that might be classed more as ‘treats’ rather than essentials.
One of my favourite places to look is Instagram, because I am on there quite a lot. And being a small business owner myself (although one selling a service rather than products), I know that this time of uncertainty can be hard for small businesses. So here are a few of the small businesses I have discovered recently, that I have ordered from myself, no collaboration at all, or accounts I have used in the past. I’d recommend having a look at them! Are there any others that you would add to the list?
Doughlicious

Doughlicious, linked above, sell ready to go cookie dough in a variety of different flavours. They have things from matcha green tea and white chocolate to sprinkle sugar cookies. I have ordered a couple of boxes recently and they were great to just cook right away, as well as adding raw to ice cream. The cookies came out of the oven super tasty, and super gooey. Amazing cookies, and reasonably priced per box of 6 (there are vegan and gluten-free options)
Yumello

Yumello is a brand that came up on my feed, and I was sold at the sight of salted date almond butter; amazing! I ordered a jar and it was so good. They do have a range of but butters and flavours, so there is plenty to choose from, and really competitive prices when comparing to similar brands. They source their argan oil from a partner cooperative, where the production is socially responsible, providing jobs for hundreds of women, who get paid fairly, benefiting and empowering them both economically and socially, all based in the Atlas Mountains.
Nourish — Grow Cook Enjoy

I have known about Nourish for a while now, and they are made locally to me in Surrey. Their coconut macaroons are made free from sugar, dairy, and gluten, and are organic and natural. They taste amazing too, and I am pretty obsessed with their mini-coconut bites; they are so moist and the flavours are amazing! I am someone who doesn’t really like anything like a Bounty because of the desiccated coconut, but these coconut macaroons from Nourish are another level.
Have you discovered any new Instagram accounts to follow over this lockdown period? Any new small businesses that you’ve been following? It would be great to hear what you think.
