When you move to a new area, it can be really tricky to find all the things that you need. If you don’t know many people it can be hard to ask for recommendations for a hairdresser, who does the best yoga classes, or some trustworthy emergency plumbers, for example. I don’t know if it is just me, but after relocating to the south from Yorkshire over eight years ago, I found this aspect of moving quite stressful. I do like to be organised so it can be hard not knowing who to turn to or where to get help from. My fiancé at the time (now husband) was new to Surrey too. So we were both pretty clueless.

There is good old Google of course, but it isn’t always that reliable. Just because someone comes up when you search plumber in Guildford, doesn’t mean they are any good. So I wish there had been an app or browser like Bidvine around those years ago! It is a free site to use, obviously, and the app is free too.

How Does It Work?

How it works is that you can enter in what you are looking for. So let’s keep the plumber thing going. It will ask if it is for an emergency, installing something like a toilet and so on. Then you can enter your location (postcode). There are a few questions that come up, so they can best choose the plumber that will be suited to what you need doing. When I was hypothetically going through the plumber scenario on the website, it also allows you to upload photographs. Which for this kind of thing would really make a difference to the quotes that you get back.

If you are looking for something like a photographer for a wedding, it will even take into account your budget. So I think this is a really great feature.

Then you can sit back and wait for the quotes for the job to come in from people that have been checked and are rated as reliable and trustworthy for the job. The quotes can come via text or email and it is all completely free for you to use.

So it is a great app to have on your phone for any emergencies, as well as day to day things like finding a cleaner or a mobile hairdresser. I can’t really see any drawbacks to it. Just something that can alleviate a little stress in your life.
