~ The Right Kind of Car Seat

You need the right kind of car seat when you’re taking your baby out for the day. If you’re taking them out in a car, that is! For the first 2 years of a baby’s life, it’s recommended that the car seat is rear facing and in the back seat. This helps to keep your baby safest when they are in the car. Make sure you do your research on the best car seats, and that you install it very carefully. You can buy the best car seat, but if you install it wrong, you could have a disaster on your hands!

~ Something to Cover them Over

When you’re walking with your baby, you’ll need something to cover them over to protect them from the weather. A pushchair raincover will stop them from getting wet, and you can also buy clip on umbrellas to protect them from the sun. You need to be prepared for whatever the weather throws at you!

~ A Sturdy Pushchair

A sturdy pushchair will help to get you from A-B, that goes without saying. However, it all depends on your lifestyle and needs. Some will come with a car seat, others will come with strong wheels and powerful steering. Pushchairs can be very expensive, but it’s worth it when you’re putting the life of your baby in there. Some are larger than others, some are really light weight. It totally depends on your lifestyle and preferences!

~ Sunscreen

Whether it’s sunny out or not, the elements can be harsh on a baby’s sensitive skin. You’ll need to take sunscreen with you especially made for babies so that you can protect them. You may need to test a couple to find one that suits your baby best.

~ Entertainment

Babies can get bored easily, so make sure you take entertainment with you to help keep them happy. A few toys will usually suffice while you’re out and about!

~ A Blanket

A blanket will keep your baby covered up and warm. If nothing else, it can soothe them if they get upset or restless. You should always cover your baby with one more layer than you’d cover yourself with when going out.

~ A Nappy Bag Full of Supplies

Then of course you have the nappy bag full of supplies. You’ll need wipes, nappies, formula, and everything else to help keep your baby clean, fed, and watered for the day.

If you have the above things when taking your baby out for the day, you should be fine. All you need to do is make sure you protect your baby from the elements and give them what they need to make them happy. There’s no reason you can’t get out and about with a baby if you’re prepared!

  • I like the look of your car seat! had a fabulous pushchair when Sylvia was young, it folded down into a tiny space and so I could take it on areoplane and travel europe with it etc. We needed a massive changing bag too but it was fun.. these items are essential!

  • Amazing how much stuff we need for our kids. My husband is always asking me what do you have in this things when he picks up the diaper bag. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

  • Great post Rebecca. I remember the days like yesterday of having 3 babies in diapers and 2 on bottles and never wanting to leave the HOUSE! I sure wish I had blogging back then. Thanks so much for hosting #snotallaboutyou.
