Vegan & Vegetarian Places to Eat in Kraków

If you follow along on my Instagram, then you will have seen that last week my husband and I headed off to Krakow, Poland, for his birthday. We had such a great time, and I’ll go into what we did another time. As for now, I just wanted to share some of the places that we ate when we were there. Being a vegetarian of nearly two years now, travel is one of the trickiest aspects of it. As much as I love to travel, not everywhere has many vegan or vegetarian options. So having a list of places to choose from, would be something that I would have found helpful.

So if this sounds like you, and need to find some veggie eats in Krakow, then this is the post for you. Even if you’re just a meat-reducer, it is such a good idea to have a few places to try on your travels.

Vegab

As the name suggests, this is one of the best places to get the vegan kebabs of your dreams. I was surprised just how many kebab places that there were in Krakow, so it was nice to be able to try out a vegan option. Of course, this is a quick lunch or a grab-and-go kind of place. But the price is really reasonable and there are a variety of options to choose from, like vegan cheese, veggies, and plant-based protein.

Green It

Again, this is more of a snack or lunch place, with sandwiches and salads to choose from, made fresh right in front of you. It is a chain, so a healthy ‘fast food’ option. The one that I went to was in one of the malls in Krakow. But if you’re looking for something fresh, light, and veggie, then it is a good option.

Address: there are a few in Krakow, but the one I went to is ul. Targowa 72,
Warszawa, 03-734

Starka

There were plenty of restaurants that do offer vegetarian or vegan options, as well as meat and fish dishes. And because my husband is a meat-eater, these kinds of places work well for us. Starka is one of those places. It is super cosy, and does get booked in advance. But it isn’t pretentious; the food (Polish cuisine) is just incredible. The veggie selection wasn’t huge, but it was really tasty and the portions are really generous.

Bhajan Cafe

This is a purely vegan and vegetarian cafe in Karakow, with an Indian theme. So think vegan curries, coconut sauces, rice, chickpeas, and so on. It is more of a cafe than a restaurant, as the name suggests, but there is plenty of seating and it looks really stylish inside.

Hamsa – Hummus & Happiness

I think this was one of my favourite places to eat, and the name says it all! It is in the Jewish Quarter in Krakow, so naturally, nods to the Israeli roots with food from that part of the world. The food is bright, colourful, tasty, and really filling. The prices were incredible too; I was really impressed.

Address: Szeroka 2, 31-053 Kraków

If you’re planning a trip to Poland, then Krakow is a must. Plus, these places are a must on your list when you’re there! Plus, there are plenty of Polish treats that are vegetarian (and some vegan) like Pączki, which is worth a try too. Enjoy!
