Lockdown and cancelled travel plans meant that there was more time and a little more money to update the home. I started redecorating at the start of the year, and after our Easter holiday was cancelled and (luckily) could get all of the money back, we decided to put the cash to good use and redecorate downstairs too. I’ve been in the home for nearly ten years now, and redecorated it all on moving in, so things were in need of a bit of an update.

I am not the best with decor and accessories, but I know what I like and what I want, when I see it. Enter, volcanic potpourri essential oil diffuser from boostology.co.uk, and I knew it had to go in the living room, on top of the piano. It looks so smart, but also has a number of benefits to essential oil diffusers that I have used in the past.
Natural essential oil diffuser
The essential oil diffuser basically means you have some natural potpourri to scent the room. Inside the jar, which looks great in matte black, there are black volcanic rocks that also include hand-finished Lava and Obsidian stones. To top it off, for when not in use (and it makes a great looking stand) is a red Agate stone lid. It is all really solid and you can tell it is good quality.
It works as a diffuser because you can put in some drops of essential oil on the stones. Because the lava is porous, it absorbs in the oils, and then releases the aroma into the room. I have used essential oils for a while now, and have used diffusers before now too, but they are all electric which means it has to be close to a plug socket, which can be quite inconvenient. This is handy because you can move it wherever you want it. You don’t need to plug it in, and also don’t need to light it. So it is a safe, natural, and healthy option. I’ve also used scented candles in the past too, but after seeing black marks appear on the walls after they have been in use, it made me rethink what kind of pollution I’m putting in the living space.

Eco-friendly
The essential oil diffuser is made in a sustainable way, with no parts of it that get thrown away. You can wash the stones with warm soapy water if you want to use a different oil with them, so you can reuse it as much as you would like to. I like to have seasonal scents in the home, and I have oils for a variety of moods – I find that they really make a difference. Boostology do sell essential oils too, if you’re new to oils and don’t already have any.
All you need to get are different oils, but there are so many of them out on the market. The fact that it will last for a long time and can be reused is really appealing. Plus, it is made from natural materials, unlike a lot of plastic essential oil diffusers that I’ve seen before, so it does look much nicer, as well as being more eco-friendly.

Value for money
The volcanic potpourri costs £39 from Boostology.co.uk, and on face value, that sounds like a lot, especially compared to scented candles, for example. However, when you break it down, and realise that it can be used many multiples of times, and can be reused again and again, and it is natural, doesn’t need a match or electricity, it does make it much better value for money. It is hard to compare it to other products, as it is something so different; I haven’t seen anything like this before.
The diffuser also adds a little something to your home in terms of decoration, and I think it is a real talking point. The children can’t quite believe there is some ‘real life lava’ in there!
I have been so impressed with the quality of it, how it looks, and just how well it works. For stronger smells it works best by a window on a sunny day, but even without doing that, I walk into a room and can smell it straight away. For a little something for the home or a gift for an essential oil lover, then I would definitely recommend this. I think it is great!
Have you heard of boostology.co.uk before? Are you an essential oil user? It would be great to hear what you think.
