So when I say what we’re reading, I basically mean what we’re reading with our toddler. I have some books lined up to read myself but right now I seem to have zero time for that. But there are so many fab children’s books out there and sometimes you don’t know where to start and which to choose for story time, so I’m sharing what our little one loves.
Max loves stories (loooots of stories) before bed and we have lots to choose from. At the moment his top picks are:
Where the Wild Things Are – Maurice Sendak
It’s great as it has lots of pictures and bright colours but not too many words so he can say some of the words and talk us through what the picture is. Plus, its about a little boy called Max so he loves it even more.
The Cat in the Hat – Dr. Suess
Max can’t get enough of this book. The pictures are quite basic but I think he loves the rhyming the most and likes to point out how many of certain things are in each picture. Bear in mind though it’s pretty long so I sometimes find myself turning over more than one page at a time (surely, I’m not just the only one that does that??)
Dear Zoo – Rod Campbell
Bit of a classic but you can’t go wrong! Max loves saying the names of all the different animals and saying quite loudly ‘send it back’ – so cute.
I’m a New Big Brother – Amanda Li
This book is great and he recognises that the little boy in the book helps and does things like he is with baby Chloe. It also has a button to press to hear a baby giggle. Little bit creepy but the toddler enjoys it. Definitely recommend to anyone that is expecting a sibling soon.
What are your little ones loving to read at the moment?
